The culinary side of Venice cannot be underestimated: its wine and food tradition is an essential part of the culture and history of Venice. For lovers of fine food and drink, I suggest a quintessentially Venetian itinerary, the so-called “bacaro tour”, which is a leisurely stroll among traditional wine bars of the city, something us Venetians love to do with friends. You will be able to taste some “cicheti” (finger-food appetizers) accompanied by a good “ombreta” (glass of wine), or an aperitif that Venetians love especially: the “spritz”.
For those with a sweet tooth, I will also be glad to recommend the best pastry shop in town (in my opinion!), as well as point out a wonderful Venetian sweets shop, where you will be able to find and taste a wide selection of excellent handmade baked goods.
