Venice is a unique city immersed in an unusual environment, a salt water lagoon; its origins date back to 4000 b.C., an ancient natural feature capturing centuries of history, and yet it is very vulnerable and therefore must be protected. This itinerary will allow us to understand the lagoon, its formation and its delicate balance, as well as discover the roots of Venetian civilization and learn the historical developments all the way to the present day, in the unique context of the three main islands of the northern lagoon: Murano, Burano and Torcello.
This excursion is best enjoyed in a bragozzo, traditional wooden boat built for travelling across the lagoon.
Length: 4-6 hours
Additional expenses: Torcello Cathedral admission ticket, and taxi, private boat or vaporetto
