Grandiose palace designed by the most important Venetian Baroque architect, Baldassare Longhena, it was once home to the noble Rezzonico family, and now hosts the Museum of 18th century Venice. Fully fitted with wonderful 18th century furniture, porcelains and chinoiserie, its focal point is its spectacular ballroom, adorned by incredible frescoes which give it a breathtaking scenographic effect.
The museum gathers masterpieces by some of the greatest Venetian painters of the 18th century: Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, Rosalba Carriera, Giambattista Piazzetta, Canaletto, Francesco Guardi and Pietro Longhi, all of which offer a complete bird’s eye view of Venetian pictorial art of that century, in all its different inflections.
